However, our mission at F&F goes beyond the local communities we serve.

In 2019, in an effort to provide at a much larger scale, we partnered with Edesia: a Rhode Island-based non-profit devoted to providing ready-to-use foods for malnourished children in some of the hardest-to-reach areas on the planet.

Mothers in these struggling countries can’t produce enough milk for their children, and don’t have the means to buy it or the electricity to store it. Powdered milk is useless because most don’t have access to clean water.

Enter Plumpy’Nut…a ready-to-use therapeutic peanut paste invented by Nutriset, specifically designed to overcome these obstacles.

These revolutionary nutrition packets are made from a mixture of peanuts, milk powder, sugar, vegetable oil, and fortified vitamins. Plumpy’Nut is relatively easy to transport and mothers can carry them from clinics back to their homes.

After Navyn Salem learned about Plumpy’Nut, she decided to launch Edesia (2009) in order to expand the distribution of the product to more children in need. Edesia has since incorporated four products: Plumpy’Nut, Plumpy’Sup, Plumpy’Doz and Nutributter, into a sustainable and innovative business model that has changed lives for over 11 million malnourished children in more than 50 countries.

In addition to its contribution to Countries such as Syria, Haiti and Yemen, Edesia has recently widened its focus on solving nutritional challenges in the United States.

Navyn and the Edesia Team launched a new line called “MeWe” — convenient peanut butter snacks made for babies, kids, and adults in need of a nutritional boost. More importantly, Edesia sends 100% of MeWe proceeds back to their efforts to end malnutrition globally…hence the name MeWe: “good for me, good for we.”

At Feast & Fettle, we send $1 dollar of every order to Edesia, to ensure that as we grow as a brand, so will our contributions to help provide healthy, nutritious, ready-to-eat foods on a much larger scale!

A $50 contribution represents one box of lifesaving ready-to-use therapeutic food, which can rehabilitate one child suffering from severe acute malnutrition in about seven weeks.
