One of our favorite sides was influenced by Food Network's recipe,
Green Beans with Magic Sauce. Chef Maggie would often make this for her own family, so she created a her own version to share with the F&F community.
The sauce completely makes the entire dish, and the Aleppo pepper gives it the perfect hint of heat.

Green Beans with Sesame-Soy Sauce
Ingredients
Green Beans - Trimmed

1 1/4 lb
|
Scallions - Thinly Sliced (for topping)
|
2 1/2 tbsp
|
White Sesame Seeds (for topping)
|
1 1/4 tbsp
|
Aleppo Pepper Flakes (for topping)
|
1 1/4 tsp
|
Tamari
|
2 1/2 tbsp
|
Tahini
|
1 2/3 tbsp
|
Honey
|
1 2/3 tbsp
|
Fresh Ginger - Grated
|
1 tsp
|
Sesame Oil
|
2 1/2 tsp
|
Garlic - Minced
|
1 each

Instructions
For Green Beans:
1. Fill large pot with water and bring to boil. Add salt (at least 6 TBSP per gallon of water)
2. Blanch green beans in boiling water for about 1 - 2 minutes. Taste for tenderness to
avoid overcooking. Remove green beans from boiling water and immediately run beans under cold water or place into a bowl of ice water to stop cooking process.
3. Drain green beans well and use paper towel if needed. Set aside.
For Sesame-Soy Sauce & Topping:
1. In small bowl whisk together tamari, tahini, honey, ginger, sesame oil, and garlic. Once fully incorporated, toss blanched greens beans in sesame-soy sauce. For plating, top dressed green beans with sesame seeds, sliced scallions, and Aleppo pepper.
